Abstract

This research focuses on the responsibility of teachers of religion to inform their students of more than just the doctrinal and formal aspects of Islam. Religious teachers who should be encouraging tolerance, inclusiveness, and pluralism among their students, are failing to do so. In some cases, he notes, they are even doing the opposite. The textbooks for religious studies, the burden of administrative work, uninspiring teaching methods and the personal attitudes of large numbers of teachers of religion, all contribute to flawed teaching about Islam
